Ukrainian defenders with the Russian tricolor under their feet and a raised Ukrainian flag announce the liberation of Balakliia in eastern Ukraine on Thursday, Sep. 8, 2022.
Balakliia is a city in Izium Raion, in Kharkiv Oblast eastern Ukraine, on the north-east side of the Siverskyi Donets river close to where it is joined by the Balakliika river which runs through the city.
