NewsX is a Community Interest Company (CIC), meaning the priority for everything we do must be news, not profit. We aim to grow a community that supports these ideals and the traditional values of informing, educating and entertaining using powerful storytelling. Our network includes publishers, editorial communities and people working on NewsX itself to help all the various groups fulfil their potential, experiment with new ideas, and share that learning with the broader community. Having a CIC as a separate legal identity ensures the continuity of the organisation's founding principles of putting journalism first so that when management eventually changes. CIC directors must prioritise the editorial community, and assets can only be transferred to another community with the same objectives. The regular updates CICs have to provide by law mean transparency for the community and media partners. Our decentralised team manages itself through journalism. Mistakes are admitted to and learned from to strengthen the communities, and newcomers are given training and guidance to grow and become valuable additions to the NewsX team.
